Wordwall is a wonderful online tool for easily creating simple activities for matching, sorting, unscrambling and more!

Here’s a sampling of available activities:

  • Match up:  drag and drop the term with its definition (or picture!)
  • Group sort:  drag and drop to sort words into the correct group
  • Anagram:  drag and drop to put letters in order to spell a word
  • Random wheel:  spin the wheel to see what word or name comes up next
  • Unjumble:  put words in a sentence in order

Wordwall has so many possibilities! You can share it on the screen in all-class or breakout room activities on Zoom. Similarly, it can be played in-person in all-class activities when projected or in small groups, if laptops or tablets are available. Activities can also serve as homework and extra practice that can be shared with learners with a link via text, WhatsApp or Remind messages, or it can be added to a class website.

The basic, free version gives you access to 18 different templates to create games. You can have five games created at one time. Unlimited activities are available for a small monthly fee.

Watch this 3-minute video to see how to make an Anagram activity.

Thank you to Sheri Lear, Beginning ESL Teacher at Open Door Learning Center, for discovering and sharing Wordwall with us!
