Welcome back to a special series of tutor tips brought to you by Literacy Minnesota’s Educator Resources archive! Once a month, we’ll be sharing an oldie but goodie resource that you may have forgotten about, or you are hearing about for the first time.

For the second installment in the series, let’s look at another Instructional Support Kit that Andrea Echelberger created: The Speaking and Listening ESL Instructional Support Kit

This kit contains a wide variety of fun and engaging activities to help learners develop verbal communication skills and gain confidence in their ability to speak both in and outside of the classroom. It can be used in a variety of ways to make your teaching and tutoring easier: to facilitate small-group pull-outs, one-to-one tutoring, develop plans for substitute teachers, or enhance existing curriculum. It is appropriate for low-beginning to advanced level English language learners.

The kit is a printable PDF that includes:

  • A list of necessary materials
  • Instructions for assembly
  • A tutor log
  • Detailed instructions for a variety of activities
  • Activity expansion suggestions
  • Handouts and supporting materials

Make life a little easier on yourself and download the Speaking and Listening ESL Instructional Support Kit today!
