Adults and children who are learning to read benefit from having access to a wide variety of books and hearing stories read aloud. The Heritage Language Resources Hub, available on the LESLLA website, is a wonderful resource for adult learners, parents of children, and teachers. You'll find texts in hundreds of languages - free and easy to access! This is great for parents to read with children (find books in over a hundred different languages among the collections), parents and children can listen together, or adult learners can listen to narrations of books as they follow along with the simple text.

You'll also find resources for making your own books. You can turn the stories of your students into books that you print off and distribute, and students can read books to their families that are all about them!

Here's one of my favorites https://www.uniteforliteracy.com/. There are hundreds of books written in Spanish and English, with narrations in numerous languages including Karen, Karenni, Arabic, Somli, Vietnamese, and Hmong, and many more!

At Unite for Literacy, we picture a world where all children have access to an abundance of books that celebrate their languages and cultures and cultivate a lifelong love of reading.
