Purpose:  to practice asking and answering questions with a variety of conversation partners

Preparation Time:  10 minutes

Materials Needed:  one piece of paper per learner with 1-2 different questions written on each paper

Procedure:

  1. Put the chairs in the room in a circle, with one chair per each learner. Set or tape a paper with a question on it to each chair.
  2. Start playing music, and have the learners walk in a circle around the chairs. Invite them to dance or move to the music if they like!
  3. When the music stops, each learner finds a chair and asks the questions on their paper to their neighbors on either side of them.
  4. After everyone has asked the questions, have the learners stand up and put the papers back on the chairs.
  5. Repeat steps 2-4 several times so that learners have the opportunity to ask multiple questions.

Modification: If there isn’t enough space to have the learners move around the chairs, the learners can stay seated and pass the papers with the questions while the music is playing.

Expansion: Have the learners generate the questions that they will use in the activity.
