Hot Seat

Purpose: to practice describing vocabulary words

Prep Time: 5 to 10 minutes

Materials: a set of word cards with vocabulary to review

Prep: create the set of word cards and place a chair in the front of the room, facing the class

Procedure:

1.      Divide the class in to two teams.

2.      A student from team A sits in the chair in the front of the room and chooses a word card.

3.      The student gives clues about the word, without saying it. If the student says the word, that turn is over.

4.      If Team A guesses what the word is, they get a point.

5.      Repeat steps 2-4 with Team B.  Continue the game as long as there is interest and there are remaining words cards. Note that word cards can be used a second time for extra practice.
