ESL Crosswords

ESL Crosswords is a collection of free, ready-made crossword puzzles that are accessed via www.eslcrosswords.com. There are about 18 puzzles for each of three levels (elementary, intermediate and advanced), pertaining to different topics such as food, houses and body. Learners can do the puzzles on the website, or you can print copies of the PDFs to be done with pencil. Somewhat surprisingly, the puzzles do also function well on a mobile phone!

Since the vocabulary found in the puzzles will likely not align precisely with the vocabulary of your curriculum, use these puzzles only if your learners are already familiar with most of the words. They would make good warm up activities, something to do after finishing a test, a station activity, all-class game or homework to help learners engage with English outside of class time.
