Donor Privacy Policy 

Literacy Minnesota knows you care about how information about you is used and shared, and we appreciate you trusting that we will do so carefully and sensibly. To better protect your privacy, we provide this Donor Privacy Policy explaining our information practices and the choices you can make about the way your information is collected and used. INFORMATION GATHERING 

Any information we collect is retained and used in accordance with existing laws, rules, regulations and other policies. 

Personal information you choose to provide 
When you communicate with us and visit our website, you may provide us with personal information that you knowingly choose to disclose (such as name, address, email address and telephone number), which is collected on an individual basis for various purposes. These purposes include donating to us, registering to receive email newsletters or other materials, registering for a training session or conference, making a request or simply asking a question. 

Financial information you choose to provide 
When you choose to make a donation by mail or in-person, we have internal controls in place to maintain a secure environment for donor financial information in accepting, processing and receipting your donation. If you choose to make an online donation or purchase, you will provide your credit card number and billing information. This information is collected and transferred over the internet to a secure server. 

INFORMATION USES AND SHARING 

Our use of information you provide 
When you supply information about yourself, we use that information for the purpose for which it was submitted, to communicate with you about our programs and services that may be of interest to you and if required to comply with a law, regulation, court order or other legal process. We may also use that information in other ways, such as to contact you about other Literacy Minnesota events and/or fundraising campaigns. You may opt out of our communications at any time (see the “opt out” section below). 

Literacy Minnesota works with third-party vendors for financial transactions, Click & Pledge and Vanco Payment Solutions. Both of these vendors are Level 1 Payment Card Industry (PCI) Service Providers, which indicates they meet the highest standards in data security. Staff cannot access electronically stored credit card information; we only see the last four digits of a card number for identification purposes.

Literacy Minnesota does not sell, rent, trade or share your personal information with outside sources. 

Information security 
We restrict access to personal information to Literacy Minnesota employees, contractors and agents who need to know that information in order to operate, develop or improve our services. These individuals are bound by confidentiality obligations and may be subject to discipline, including termination, if they fail to meet these obligations. 

Your information is stored on servers located in the United States. We and our agents who help us with hosting and security use a number of physical, electronic and procedural safeguards to help protect your information. However, there is no such thing as perfect security. You agree that we are not responsible for the unlawful actions of third parties.
