Carringbush Reading Series for Beginning Level English Language Learners
The Carringbush Reading Series features stories and language from everyday life, specifically tailored for beginning level adult English language and literacy learners. This free, downloadable series serves as both a reading resource and a classroom tool, supporting lessons on themes such as daily routines, visiting a doctor, exploring employment pathways, and more.
Teachers may need to make slight adaptations to account for local colloquial language as the series was written in Australia. There is also an app that allows learners to read the books on the go. It does have audio, but may not be particularly useful to learners in the United States because of the Australian accent in the audio. Titles include Amal Can't Go to Class, A Visit to the Doctor, A Busy Saturday and more.
