Susan Johnson
Susan Johnson (she/her) teaches beginning literacy at Open Door Arlington Hills and Minneapolis. She has a broad background in teaching world languages to children, adolescents, and adults. She began her career teaching German and Spanish in K12 settings. Inspired by her volunteer experiences in adult ESL programs, she pursued an M.A. in TESOL at the University of Minnesota. Upon completing her master’s program, she served for a year in AmeriCorps as an ESL instructor and job coach with the Literacy Coalition of Central Texas. Before joining Literacy Minnesota, she taught pre-GED to multilinguals at Black Hawk College in Illinois.
When Susan isn’t teaching, she enjoys biking along the Mississippi, cooking with friends, and long-distance hiking—preferably in Spain.
