Natalie Seger
Natalie (she/her) is the GED Program Developer and Manager at Literacy Minnesota. She comes to us from the YouthBuild program at Goodwill Easter Seals, where she worked as a GED/HSE instructor and career navigator for young adults. Natalie began her work as an educator in 2017, teaching Language Arts and Social Studies classes at Shanti Bhavan in Tamil Nadu, India. She is also passionate about college access and navigation for first-generation and low income students, from her work with Como Park high school students during two AmeriCorps terms with College Possible. Natalie strives to use culturally responsive and antiracist teaching practices, and utilizes critical literacy to center students’ voices in the classroom. Natalie recently earned her MA in Education and ABE Certificate from Hamline University, and holds a BA in Sociology from Grinnell College. She is excited to work directly with students at Open Door and to learn from other ABE professionals at Literacy Minnesota! Natalie lives in Minneapolis and does many outdoor activities, like exploring Minnesota’s awesome state parks! She also enjoys cooking with her partner and reading YA novels.
