Carly Carte
Carly Carte is a graduate from Macalester College with a degree in Political Science and a minor in French. She started with Open Door her first-year at Macalester as an online citizenship volunteer. She continued as an online and in-person ESL volunteer teacher with Open Door Northside until 2022. In 2022, she spent four months living in Dakar, Senegal. While there, she interned with P.A.R.I.. At P.A.R.I., she worked directly with immigrants and refugees from across West Africa, assessing and coordinating social services between clients and other non-profits. She returned to Open Door in 2023 as an intern and then Coordinator in-person and online. She now teaches Intermediate ESL and Citizenship with Open Door Minneapolis. Carly loves to travel, sew, and spend time with her family. She is passionate about refugee and immigrant rights, is fluent in French, and is learning Portuguese.
